Metaphysical concepts such as trusting intuition, looking for signs, staying mindful, and connecting with guides (angels) are a substantial part of the book's theme. For example, she demonstrates meditation fundamentals and energy work, including the real-world challenges of both. Practical advice includes energy work such as how to do a space clearing and basic feng shui. An important theme she emphasizes is the interconnectedness of everyone and everything; the story line demonstrates how our smallest actions can have wide-reaching effects on everyone around us.
My take: I enjoyed this book. Using the popular chick lit genre, Shearer weaves basic metaphysical concepts such as mindfulness and energy awareness into her philosophical musings about whether men are worth the bother. Although some of the plot points are forced, the end result is a feel-good mystery that strives to both entertain and enlighten. Note that this is Shearer's first book; I expect that the quality and consistency of the writing will improve over time. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

"Adventures of a Lightworker" was a definately one of those books that you can't put down. Faith (the main character) is lovable, witty, and full of spirit! This book has everything you need adventure, spirituality, humor, romance, and mystery. I am looking forward to the sequel, in fact, I can't wait to see what Faith will get herself into next! Pick it up, you won't regret it or be able to put it down!
The idea of a light worker and bringing spirituality to a mystery novel was refreshing to read. With a girls touch to the storyline I found this book easy and fun to read. I give this book a 5 star rating because that's how I felt when I finished the book. Happy and inspired times 5 stars!
I was really surprised by this book. Extremely well researched and written. It kept me riveted with suspense as each chapter unfolded another clue to the mystery. A fun book, yet a powerful reminder of the intuitive gift we each have and can develop. I highly recommend this book. A great fast Spring/Summer read.
This is a very enjoyable book! I really liked the twists and turns of the characters and the plot.
I was also pleased to see that the author made the main character, Faith, a light worker. It certainly seems that we could use more heroines that have a desire that goes beyond themselves to make the world a better place and I enjoyed how this book plants the seeds of Faith's awakening to this purpose and details the beginning of her journey in this direction.
I'm very curious to see how Faith will continue to grow and look forward to the second book in this series!
I had never heard of a Lightworker before so I wasn't sure what to expect from the book. But I loved it! It usually takes me forever to finish a book, but this one I didn't want to put down. I can't wait for the next book in the series!
This book explores spirituality from a fresh, clever and upbeat point of view. The subject matter--a solid and intriguing murder mystery encountered by a modern-day heroine--are the perfect platforms for this new novelist. Every page is charming and seems to bring you closer to the author, as you can't quite help but hear her voice in Faith! Faith is the character we all want to be smart, funny, and about to save the world, if she can just master her own path. It is one of those books that, when you finish, you're a better person than when you began for having lived through its pages. Overall, a great read. Highly recommended.
If you somehow missed this book- read it now! It's a clever peek into the life of an intuitive young woman who just found out she has a year to meet her extraordinary "spiritual do-good" deadlines as a Lightworker while tackling life's ordinary ups and downs such as dating, work and past decisions. This book will surprise you with laugh out loud moments and metaphysical musings, not to mention unraveling a murder mystery too! By the end of the book, you will not only want more, but wish the main character, Faith, was someone you really were friends with. Destined to be an amazing series!!
