This book has two storylines that come together. The main character is a young woman who is dating a married man and is viciously attacked when she tries to break up with him. The second arc involves a small complex of rented cabins where the tenants are dying one by one, initially the deaths appear to be accidntal in nature and in one case suicide, but it soon becomes clear there is something more sinister going on. The girl who was attacked is looking for a place to hide where her ex can't find her and rents one of the cabins, not knowing about the deaths. She meets a police detective that she begins a tenative relationship with, this brings all the elements of the stories to one place. Generally I found many of the characters to be unpleasant, they did not treat each other very well and there was a lot of the male characters thinking about the women in a lewd sexual manner. The landlord is a real dirty old man. The author did a good job with the suspense, even when I thought the characters were doing stupid things I still wanted to know what happened and was on the edge of my seat wondering if they would get killed or what. All of the loose ends are tied up neatly, though a bit unbelievably. Contains scenes of brutality, accidents, death, and language.Product details

When I read this book, I was captured by Melissa. She is a character that goes through a lot of bad situations and then meets up with Arn, a very odd man who inherited this propety and was told it was cursed. Opening up the cabins to vacationers, this book will get your blood pressure up and is very intense. But excellent read! Especially on a dark, rainy night!
I was blown away by Kevin Burke's first novel, In Hiding. It's the whole heart pounding, thinking you know, then wondering....it's one of my favorite all time books.
I read a LOT, mostly mysteries/thrillers....so I'm an....ahem.....expert, I tell ya.
Had to read it all in one night. Read it once again, was concerned about wearing it out as I didn't know how to get another copy....I need to read it again, now that I won't ruin the original copy, as I downloaded it to my .
